Shahjahanpur District lies to the south-east of Rohilkhand division of
Uttar Pradesh. Earlier, it was a part of
Bareilly District. Shahjahanpur has a population of about 2.5 million, scattered over an area of 4,575 sq km.
Ramganga, Garrah and Gomti are the major rivers. Economy depends mostly on agriculture. Wheat, gram, millet, and potato are the major crops. There are manufacturing units of clothes, chemicals, and fertilizers.
