Jait

Jait is one of the prominent towns in Mathura District associated with the life of Lord Krishna. The town derives it name from the word ‘jayate.’ According to legends, when Lord Krishna killed a demon by the name of Agasura, the demigods came and said jayate, which means ‘all glories.’

Places to visit around Jait are Apsara Kund, Varaha Ghata, Gautam Rishi Ashram and Banke Bihari Temple.

A ten-day long festival, Rath ka Mela (cart festival) is a colorful festival celebrated annually at Vrindavan.

Jait is on the main Delhi-Agra road. It is around 11 km from Vrindavan and 15 km from Mathura. Mathura Junction Railway Station and Agra Civil Enclaves are the nearest railway station and airport.
