Sundaramurthy Nayanar, a divine Tamil composer of the 8th century, was born in
Cuddalore of
Tamil Nadu. Also known as Sundarar and Thiru Kalayanallur, he is one among Tevaram trinity, others being
Thiru Gnanasambandar and
Thiru Navukkarasar. An ardent devotee of
Lord Shiva, his works are remarkable for their language and devotional content. Significant of his recitation is one which he sung praising Sri Amirthakalasanathaswamy temple in Arasalar of Sakkottai,
Thanjavur District.
