Madambakkam is a small settlement situated close to
Tambaram in
Kanchipuram District,
Tamil Nadu. Spanning over an area of about eight sq km, Madambakkam is bounded in the east by
Sholinganallur, in the south-west by
Vandalur, in the north by
Sembakkam, in the west by
Peerkankaranai, in the south-east by Injambakkam and in the north-west by Tambaram.
Madambakkam is about 37 km from
Chennai.
Ambattur, one of the biggest industrial estates in South Asia, is nearly 31 km away.
Madambakkam was once known as Ulaguyyavanda-Chola Chaturvedimangalam. The place was a part of the ancient territorial subdivision called Nedugunra Nadu in Puliyur-Kottam, Jayamkonda-Cholamandalam.
