Palace of Rana Kumbha




Palace of Rana Kumbha, a huge monument in Chittorgarh Fort is in Chittorgarh, Rajasthan. This 15th century palace is one of the finest examples of Rajput architecture. It holds both elephant and horse stables and a Shiva temple. The original palace was constructed by the Rana Hamir after recapturing the fort in the first siege and the Mewar power attained its highest point of achievement during Rana Kumbha’s period. It is believed to have underground cellars where Rani Padmini and other women committed Jauhar. Towards the south of Rana Kumbha's Palace lies the Palace of Queen Padmini and Gaumukh reservoir.
