Situated 40 km from
Baripada is this highly revered shrine dedicated to
Lord Shiva. Existing in a unique setting, surrounded from the three sides by the Water channels of Kundi and Gangahar, the temple exudes the finesse of the ancient Oriyan architecture.
Legend says that when King of Somavansi dynasty fell ill with leucodorma, his whole body was depigmented with white patches like water melon (Kakharu) but was subsequently cured by the grace of the deity. Oriya inscriptions of Mayurbhanj royal family can be seen on the temple walls.
