Baripada, the administrative headquarters of
Mayurbhanj District, is a small town located at the foot hills of the Similipal mountain range, in
Orissa. It is 170 km north-east of Bhubaneswar.
Baripada is an ideal base for tourists venturing to various destinations in the district. Places of tourist interest include Banthia Jagannath Temple,
Kichakeshwari Temple (16 km) and some ancient forts.
Simlipal National Park,
Chandipur, Deokund, Remuna (60 km) and Mantri constitute interesting excursions in the vicinity.
Nearest airport is at Bhubaneswar. Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport is 240 km to the east of the town. Baripada Railway Station is on the Cuttack-Baleswar line.
