Bhaitbari is a small village in
West Garo Hills District of
Meghalaya. Located on the southern bank of the river Jinjiram, the village is close to the
Goalpara District of
Assam.
The village is renowned for the archaeological finds excavated from here. The artifacts which reveal the existence of planned places of worship are uncovered. The mud-cum-nurt brick fortification running around 5 km, burnt brick temple lying under a mound, 28 terracotta tiles, masonry oil lamps, Octagonal Temple with eight miniature octagons and Buddhist stupa are some of the prime findings.
Bhaitbari is on the Mankachar- Phulbari-Goalpara road. It is about 5 km from Phulbari on the way to Tura.
