Tura

Tura is the second largest town in Meghalaya after Shillong and is the administrative headquarters of the West Garo Hills District. Tura is situated 166 km west of Shillong.

Major attraction of the town is the Tura Peak, after which it had been named. The peak stands tall at an altitude of 872 m above the sea level, overlooking the town, at its eastern flank. From the pinnacle, one could catch the enchanting sights of the lower Brahmaputra Valley as well as the golden yellow plains of Bangladesh.

Balpakram National Park, Kata Beel, Naphak Lake, Siju Cave, and Rongrengiri constitute interesting excursions.
