Tamenglong District




Tamenglong District lies in the western boundary of Manipur. It is entirely composed of hills, ranges and narrow valleys. Tamenglong covers an area of 4,391 sq km. The major portion is inhabited by Zeliangrong Naga tribe. The festivals celebrated are highly religious and related to agriculture. Gang-Ngai, Rih-Ngai (Chaga Ngai), Gudui-Ngai and Banruhmei are some of the festivals.

Tamenglong is best known for its natural beauty. Turbulent waters, roaring waterfalls, pitching dark caves, enchanting lakes of the wilderness and rocks are found in Tamenglong District. The important tourist areas are Tharon cave, Zailad Lake and Barak waterfalls.
