The district headquarters of the
Tamenglong District, Tamenglong is 156 km from Imphal. Inhabited by the hill tribes, the town is known for its deep gorges, caves, waterfalls and orchids. Tharon cave, Buning Meadow, Zailad Lake and Barak waterfalls are a few tourist places.
Three buses depart from Imphal at 06.00 hrs during weekdays (except Sunday) and reach Tamenglong the same afternoon.
