Pydhuni is a thickly populated area located east of Kalbadevi in south Mumbai. Pydhuni is about 4 km south-east of Khetwadi.
Pydhuni literally means ‘foot-wash’, a name that probably referred to the small creek that formed at high tide between the then Great Breach (separating the islands of Bombay and Worli) and Umarkhadi, the creek which once existed between Mazagaon and Bombay.
