Katni, known as the city of lime, is an ancient city of
Madhya Pradesh. It is also known as Mudwara and has the fame of having the biggest Diesel loco shed and wagon repairs shop of the Indian railways. The city is one of the major rail junctions of India and is a leading trade center in
Katni District. Katni is around 120 km north-east of
Jabalpur.
