Sehore District in
Madhya Pradesh covers an area of 6,578 sq km, with a population of 1 million. Sehore stands in the foothills of the
Vindhya Range in the middle of Malwa region. Sidhhapur is the old name of Sehore. It had a glorious past, which is proved by the archeological remains found in this place. The main rivers are
Narmada,
Parvati, Newaj, Kolar, Papnas, Kulas, Seewan, and Lotia.
There are many temples, mutts, shrines, mosques, and churches of great historical importance. The main tourist destinations are Saru-Maru caves, Ganesh Mandir,
Jama Masjid, Jain Mandir, and Ramlala Mandir. It is believed that Maharshi Patanjali, the renowned founder of Yoga sect had spent some time here in prayers and worship. Bhavai is a traditional dance of the tribes.
