Red-vented Bulbul is a smoky brown bird with a partially crested black head. It is about 20 cm in size with a distinct crimson patch under the root of the tail. Females are smaller and duller; beak larger and slimmer.
The bird feeds on berries, insects flower nectar, seeds and buds. The Red-vented Bulbul is larger than the Red-whiskered Bulbul. The bird is mostly found in pairs or small flocks in the non-breeding season and is sedentary.
