Maksi is an ancient pilgrim site of Jain Samaj, located in the
Shajapur District of
Madhya Pradesh. Situated on the
Mumbai-
Agra highway, it is about 39 km from
Ujjain and 32 km from
Dewas.
Major point of attraction here is the two Jain teerths. Bhagvan Parshwanath Temple, popularly known as Bada Mandir, is noted for its architectural splendor. Several archeological remains of Stone Age were excavated in the northern hills of Maksi.
By road Maksi is well linked with Ujjain, Bhopal, Ratlam, Gwalior, Mandu, Kota and Omkareshwar. Maksi has a railway station on the Indore-Guna rail route.
