Built in Nagar style,
Parshwanath Temple is a world famous Jain temple situated in
Khajuraho. The light-red colored idol of Bhagvan Shantinath in the kayotsarya posture is the presiding deity. The architecture of the temple is around one thousand years old. It contains excellent figures of Lakshmi Narain, Balram Reoti, eight dikpalas (
Indra, Agni, Yama, Nirriti, Varuna,
Vayu, Kuber, and Isan), Ambika Kamdev-Rati, and Ram-Sita along with
Hanuman. It also presents the best art pieces of sura sundaris (divine nymphs) in various attractive postures. There are also 33 small temples and a Shantinathji museum in the compound of this temple.
Khajuraho is connected by regular buses with Satna, Harpalpur, Jhansi and Mahoba. The Panna Railway Station on the Zansi-Manekpur line is the nearest railhead which is at a distance of 44 km from this temple. The other railheads are at Harpalpur (94 km) and Mahoba (61 km.) Khajuraho Airport is the nearest domestic airport.
