Tiruvilvamala, also spelt Tiruvilvamala, is a small village in
Thrissur District of
Kerala. The place is famous for its hill shrine
Sri Vilwadrinatha Temple (also Tiruvilvamala Temple) from which the village derived its name. The belief is that there is a subterranean chamber beneath the temple housing a golden Vilva tree.
Sri Vilwadrinatha Temple has two shrines side by side, one dedicated to Ram and the other to his brother Lakshman. The temple celebrates its annual festival on the Ekadasi day in the month of Pisces (February/March). Around 2 km east of the temple is Punarjanani built by Lord Vishwakarma, the celestial builder.
Tiruvilvamala is in Thalapalli taluk, 29 km north of Thrissur. The village is well served by frequent bus services from Palakkad, around 20 km away. Palakkad Town Railway Station and Thrissur Railway Station serve the area.
