Maramon is situated on the banks of the
Pampa River and is 16 km east of
Thiruvalla. The town has been recognized as the center of Christian culture. It is also known as the birthplace of Palakkunnathu Abraham Maplah, the leader during the reformation of the Syrian Church of Malabar in the 19th century.
The largest Christian gathering in Asia, Maramon convention, is held every year in the month of February on the sand-bed of the river Pampa at Maramon. The convention is a source of spiritual inspiration and enlightenment for thousands of people.
