Elanji is a calm, prosperous setting in
Ernakulam District of
Kerala. A border to
Kottayam District, this is an ancient town with a history dating back to many centuries ago. An ideal destination for nature lovers, Elanji is the land of rubbers and spices, beautiful hillocks and vibrant streams.
The place was called Elavanchiyoor during the reign of Marthanda Varma. At some later time, this name shrank to form Elanji. There are many ancient temples and churches, which co-exist next to each other presenting the perfect example of religious harmony.
Elanji is around 40 km south-east of Ernakulam, which holds the nearest major railheads. Cochin International Airport serves the town.
