Kashi Vishwanath Temple




Kashi Vishwanath Temple is an ancient shrine situated at Pattadakkal (the second capital of the erstwhile Chalukyan kings) in Karnataka. The beautiful temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Pattadakal is 29 km from Badami.

The sanctum of the temple has a sculptured niche on the bhadra-projections and is crowned by a squat and ponderous shikara. The shikara is divided into five storeys and belongs to the pancha-ratha variety. The roof of the mandapam is flat of two tiers, and the higher one is raised over the nave-pillars.

The nearest airport is at Bangalore and the railway station is at Badami. Taxis and private buses are extensively available from Badami to Kashi Vishwanath Temple.
