Padmasana

Padmasana (lotus posture) is the most common posture in yoga. It is performed in a sitting posture with the left foot on the right thigh and right foot on the left thigh. The hands are kept on the legs with the palms up.

If only one foot is kept on the opposite thigh then it is called ardha padmasana (half lotus). Padmasana is the best posture for practicing pranayama.

Padmasana is practiced as a remedy for liver disorders. It also relaxes the mind and improves the level of concentration.
