Kudremukh




Kudremukh is a secluded hill station, located 95 km south-west of Chikmagalur. Kudremukh gets its name from the highest peak here, which resembles a horse’s face.

Kudremukh, 1,894 m high, is an ideal spot for the trekking enthusiast. The climate is cool and salubrious round the year. With bountifully forested hillsides, captivating cascades, meandering rivers, and rare orchids, Kudremukh is yet to be explored. At Kudremukh National Park, visitors can come across tigers, leopards, bears, giant squirrels, bonnet monkeys, and the endangered lion-tailed macaque and the Malabar civet. Kudremukh is an ideal destination for a Western Ghats driving tour. It is rich in iron ore deposits, and the Kudremukh Iron Ore Company conducts mining operations. Gangamoola Hills and Jamalabad Fort are nearest attractions.

The nearest airport is 170 km away at Mangalore. The nearby railhead is at Kadur (40 km). Kudremukh is well linked by road to Bangalore (350 km) and Chickmagalur.
