Bidar District lies at the north-eastern corner of
Karnataka and covers 5,448 sq km. The main occupation of the people is agriculture. Sugarcane, jowar and wheat are the main crops. There are two distinct river basins, the Godavari basin and the
Krishna basin. The main river is the
Manjra River, which is a tributary of the
Godavari River.
Bidar has several religious centers such as the famous Guru Nanak Jhira, Narasimha Jhira Water Cave Temple, Papanaash Shiva Temple, and Veerbhadreshewar Jatra's at
Humnabad and Changlare.
Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College run by the Sikh trust is in Bidar town.
