National Highway 98 is a 207 km-long stretch that connects
Patna, the capital of
Bihar, with
Rajhara near
Daltonganj, in
Jharkhand. The highway passes through the districts of
Patna,
Jehanabad,
Arwal and
Aurangabad in Bihar and
Chatra and
Palmau in Jharkhand and touches some major cities and towns on the way.
The highway starts at Mithapur in Patna Junction and runs westwards up to Bihta; the road up to Bihta has now became a part of National Highway 30. From Bihta, National Highway 98 passes southwards touching
Paliganj, Arwal, Daudnagar and Obra, before reaching Aurangabad on National Highway 2. Beyond Aurangabad, the National Highway 98 continues its way south for another 36 km, before entering Jharkhand.
In Jharkhand, Chhatarpur is the only major settlement that lies along the highway. National Highway 98 is 51 km-long in Jharkhand and it eventually terminates at Rajhara near Daltonganj.
