Hazaribagh




Hazaribagh, which literally means a thousand gardens, is a picturesque town situated on the National Highway 33 and is 93 km north of Ranchi. It is a famous health hill resort in Jharkhand, perched at an altitude of 2,019 ft. The town is also the administrative headquarters of the Hazaribagh District.

Places of tourist interest in and around the town include Canary Hills, Hazaribagh Lake, Hazaribagh National Park (19 km) and Tilaiya (53 km) and Konar (51 km) dams. Newest attraction is the World's oldest cave picture Isco, which had been discovered from a place, 40 km from the town.

Nearest airport is at Ranchi, which is connected with Kolkata, Patna, Lucknow and New Delhi by regular Indian Airlines flights. Closest railhead is Koderma (59 km). Alternatively, one can also opt for the Hazaribagh Road Station, which is on the Howrah-Delhi Grand Chord line, 67 km from the Hazaribagh National Park. Hazaribagh is well connected with Dhanbad (128 km), Gaya (130 km), Patna (235 km) and Daltonganj (198 km) by regular bus services.
