Dhanbad, the administrative headquarters of the
Dhanbad District, is a mining town situated 125 km north-east of
Ranchi. It is internationally renowned for its rich coalfields and is a prominent industrial and commercial center in
Jharkhand. Dhanbad is 171 km northeast of
Jamshedpur.

Nearest airport is at Ranchi. Dhanbad Junction Railway Station is a prominent railhead of Eastern Railways.
