Udhwa Bird Sanctuary, spread over an area of 5.65 sq km, is the only bird sanctuary in
Jharkhand. It is situated near the Udhwa Lake (also Patauda Lake) in
Sahibganj District.
The sanctuary is a natural habitat for a variety of birds including Brahminy kites, fishing eagles, house swifts and palm swifts flying at dizzying speeds. A large variety of migratory birds from Europe and Siberia arrive here during winter and this makes it a haven for the birdwatchers.
By road, the sanctuary is easily accessible from Rajmahal and Sahibganj.
