City of Temples



Jammu city is situated in the foothills of the Himalayas. It is famous as ‘the city of temples.' Dogri language, Hindi, English, Urdu, Kashmiri and Punjabi are the main languages spoken by the people. The temperature in the city varies from 26° to 4° C in winter and 43° to 23° C in summer. The average rainfall is 107 cm. The best season is from October to April.

Jammu city is a land of grand ancient temples, beautiful palaces and historical places. Bahu Fort, Mubarak Mandi Palace Complex, Amar Mahal Museum, Dogra Art Museum, Ziarat Baba Buddan Shah, Ziarat baba Roshan Shah Wali, Ziarat Peer Mitha, Panch Peer, Dargah Garib Shah, Peer Khoh, Gadhadharji Temple, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine, Buddha Amarnath, Peer Baba, and Peer Khoh are some of them.

The city has many opportunities for adventure spots. Kishtwar High Altitude National Park, Nandini Wildlife Sanctuary, Ramnagar Wildlife Sanctuary and Surinsar Mansar Wildlife Sanctuary are some of the sanctuaries where rare species of animal and birds are found. Patnitop, Sanasar, Krimchi, and Kishtwar are the adventure spots.

Amar Mahal, Akhnoor, Batote, Jhajjar Kotli, Katra, Kud, Mubarak Mandi Palace, Mantalai, Mansar Lake, Patnitop, Sanasar, and Sruinsar Lake are some of the tourist spots.
