Manali is a city of Kullu District in Himachal Pradesh which derived its name from the term Manavalaya. It is a scenic mountain resort surrounded by snow-clad peaks and thick pine forests with the Beas River winding through it. Manali lies at the head of the Kullu valley, at an altitude of 6260 ft above sea level and its beauty lies in the Beas river flowing through the valley with fruit orchards and conifer slopes climbing upto the snowcapped Himalayan peaks. Manali is nestled between the Dhauladhar and Pir Panjal ranges. Manali is glorified as the land of gods and goddesses, fairs and festivals, lakes and ancient temples.

A 600 year old wooden temple in the heart of the dense grove of ancient cedars is a major attraction. The colourful village of Vashisht, famous for its hot sulphur springs is nearby.
