Ushkar is a place of archeological importance located in
Baramulla District. Ushkar stupa and its surrounding wall are found at some distance away to the west of the village. This stupa is similar to that at
Parihasapura and is believed to have been constructed by Lalitaditya in the middle of the 8th century. The remains of the terracotta heads reveal that the stupa belonged to the Kushan times. All these artifacts are now preserved in the
Pratap Singh Museum at
Srinagar.
By road, Ushkar is 2 miles east of Baramulla. It is about half a mile from the Baramulla dak bungalow in Jammu and Kashmir. The nearest airport is Srinagar Airport.
