Airwan Temple




Airwan Temple is situated at Airwan near Parole in Kathua District of Jammu and Kashmir. The village derives its name from Ravi River. This 4th century temple was built by King Vikramaditya. The presiding deity of the temple is Lord Shiva. Annual fairs are held at the temple during Mahashivaratri and Baisakhi Festival. There's a sacred stream nearby, named Guptaganga. Pilgrims immerse the ashes of their relatives in this stream. By road, Airwan Temple can be accessed from Kathua (15 km). The nearest railhead is Kathua Railway Station.
