Hari Kothi House lies in the estate of
Hari Kothi at
Dharamsala. This villa has been the summer residence of the Kutlehar Royal Family. Surrounded by woods scented with wild
Himalayan flowers, this villa offers panoramic views of
Kangra Valley. It is said that
Swami Vivekananda once stayed here.
This charming villa is built in the standard timber framed structure. Vertical beams are spanned by horizontal beams which create a mesh of wooden framework. Wooden planks are fitted in a diagonal cross corner to corner. The open spaces are filled with stone blocks and held together by mortar of clay, lime and pine needles.
