St John's is an ancient church, situated at an altitude of 1600 m above sea level, in
Dharamsala,
Himachal Pradesh. The imposing structure, built in 1852, is a grey stone construction with fine Belgian stained glass windows. It has an old bell, which hangs down from a 300 m high tower.
St John's Church is popularly known as the church of St John in Wilderness. It stands as a memorial of the British Viceroy, Lord Englin, who died here in 1863.
The church was reconstructed in 1929 and has several memorial tablets. It has a well-tended old graveyard.
The church is 8 km from Dharamsala.
