Bhagsu is a beautiful village situated 11 km from
Dharamsala, in
Kangra District,
Himachal Pradesh. The village offers picturesque views of the
Dhauladhar Mountain Ranges. Bhagsu is 2 km from
McLeodganj, which is placed amongst the hilly terrains of
Himalayas.
According to a local legend, the place had witnessed a fierce battle between snakes and demons in quest of water. The place was named after the demon king Bhagsu.
The ancient Bhagsunath Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, is the major point of attraction. Beyond the temple is
Bhagsu Waterfall, the path to which is decorated with stylish slate graffiti. Dharamkot, Dal Lake are the other tourist places around Bhagsu.
Bhagsu is best in spring and autumn. There are several hotels and camp sites for comfortable stay. The tourist offices, run by Himachal tourism, cater to the tourists' needs.
Kangra, 24 km away, is the closest airport.
