Jind District




The district of Jind in Haryana covers an area of 2,700 sq km. It is believed that Jind was founded during the time of the Mahabharat. Boundaries are shared with the districts of Panipat, Karnal, Kaithal, Patiala, Hissar, Fatehabad, Rohtak and Sonipat.

Agriculture is the major occupation. The crops are sugarcane, cotton, jowar, bajra, rice, wheat, gram, barley, potatoes, onions, chillies, oilseeds, cotton and sugarcane. Livestock includes cattle, buffaloes, sheep, goats, horses, ponies, donkeys, pigs, and poultry.

Pindara, Ramrai, Dhamtan Sahib (Tehsil Narwana), Hansdehar, Narwana, Safidon, and Uchana are the major tourist spots. In addition, there are many teerths mentioned in the old texts such as Asvini Kumara, Varaha, Ekahamsa, Munjavata, Yakshini, Pushkara, Dasasvamedha and Koti Teerth.
