Agroha has a significant place in the history of Haryana. It is located about twenty kilometers north-west of
Hissar. Agroha took its name from King Agra, the ancestor of the Aggarwalas. Archaeological evidences tell us that the town was established earlier than fifth century before Christ.
Kushan and Yaudhaya coins, bricks with designs of human heads with typical hair styles, terracotta seals and sculptures are among the finds discovered. It is said that the place was burnt down by
Ghori in 1194. During Mohammed Tughlak’s reign the town was deserted owing to extreme scarcity. Many temples were destroyed. The town was reconstructed and reoccupied again. Now it is one of the important towns in Haryana.
