Ajit Nath




Ajit Nath is the second among the 24 Jain tirthankars. His real name was Ajit Kumar and was formerly known as the great king Vimalvahan of Susima city, in Mahavideh area. He was born to King Jita Satru and Vijaya Devi in Ayodhya.

He attained Nirvana at Samet Sikhar on the fifth day of the bright half of the month of Chaitra. Ajit Nath had around 90 disciples.

Jain Tirthankaras are generally identified by an animal, object, or some such symbol. Elephant is the emblem of Lord Ajit Nath.
