Sambhavnath is the third
tirthankar out of the total 24 Jain Tirtankaras. His real name was Sambhav Kumar. He was born to the King Jitari of Shravasti and Sena Devi of Swati. The place where Sobhnath Temple stands is believed to the birthplace of Sambhavnath.
Sambhavnath attained omniscience after a fourteen-year period of spiritual practices. Arhat Sambhavnath gave his first discourse on the ephemeral nature of the mundane existence. He got Nirvana on the fifth day of the bright half of the month of Chaitra at Samet Sikhar.
Jain Tirthankaras are generally identified by their symbols; horse is the emblem of Lord Sambhavnath.
