Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary, the only bird sanctuary in
Goa offers an unforgettable view for bird watchers. It covers an area of 1.8 sq km and is situated on the western tip of
Chorao Island along river
Mandovi. Mangroves are inhabited by variety of local and migratory birds. The sanctuary is named in memory of Dr Salim Ali, one of India’s well known ornithologists. It is at a short distance from the ferry wharf at Chorao.
