Chorao Island is nestled between the
Mandovi and Mapusa rivers. From Ribander, west of
Old Goa, one can hire a ferry to reach this place. Bird species including little heron, Indian pond heron, western reef heron, pintail, black eagle, white-bellied sea eagle, grey plover, little ringed plover, common sandpiper, gull-billed tern, lesser pied kingfisher, common kingfisher and white-breasted kingfisher can be found there. Chorao is the home of the world famous
Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary.
