Kala Academy is located at
Campal, one of the most picturesque spots in
North Goa District. Campal is 2 km south of
Panaji, the capital of
Goa.
The academy welcomes the musically talented students under a single roof and takes necessary steps to promote their skills. The students are given training in Western music and Indian music. They are awarded with Sangeet Madhyama, Sangeet Kushal and Sangeet Parangat certificates.
The institute has three main portions namely the indoor auditorium, the open amphitheatre and the exhibition hall (opened to the public). Rehearsal hall, art gallery, open-air arena, mini open air amphitheatre and exhibition lanes are other fractions. The centre holds a library, which has a rich collection of books on art and culture, Indian and Western music, visual art, theatre art and folk art.
Classical or traditional Indian drama, modern Indian drama, western drama and theatre techniques courses are offered. Kala Academy also teaches solo singing, strings, piano, classical guitar, violin, viola, trumpet, flute and clarinet.
Every year in the month of November, the academy organizes a music festival, known as Kesarbai Kerkar Music Festival, at its complex.
