Clarinet




Clarinet is a popular wind instrument, which consists of a closed cylindrical air column with a bell-shaped opening at one end. The mouthpiece of the instrument holds a single reed.

Clarinet is believed to have been originated 700 years ago in Islamic and Asian countries. It is made of wood, which is capable of taking a high polish. Commonly, Grenadilla wood from Asia, Africa and South America is used to make the instrument.

The B-flat clarinet and the clarinet in A are most commonly used instruments today. About 60 cm long, the B-flat clarinet has a range of more than three octaves.
