Cinnamon Bittern (Ixobrychus cinnamomeus) is a slender bird of about 39 cm in length, but a little larger than the
Yellow Bittern. It has rufous plumage, yellowish-green legs and yellowish bill. Male has rufous upperparts and paler underparts while female’s upperparts are browner with buffy spots and underparts - paler with dark brown streaks.
Cinnamon Bitterns prefers to live in freshwater wetlands - marshes, rice fields, grasslands and ponds. The bird feeds on small fish, frogs and invertebrates. It is a solitary bird and hunt alone.
