Sattari is one of the six taluks and the second largest taluk of
North Goa. This picturesque and bewitching taluk holds some of the highest peaks of
Goa. The
Mandovi River, before merging with the
Arabian Sea at Cabo Aguada, enters Goa at Sattari taluk.
Maulingam, one of the ancient villages of Goa, belongs to this taluk and Chitpavans, a Kokanastha Brahmin community, can only be found here.
Madei Wild Life Sanctuary, covers the northeastern portion of Goa, is the main attraction. It is also noted for the temple of Lord Brahma. Goa Airport is the nearest airport and major railway station is at Karmali.
