The Mandovi River emerges from Bhimgad in the Sahyadri range of mountains in Karnataka, and is known as the Mhadei at its source. Also known as the Gomati, the river is then fed water from its tributaries Rogaro and Kushavati, Nanorem,
Nanuz, Valvota, and Mapusa, and goes on to become the largest drainage basin in
Goa, finally flowing into
the Arabian Sea. It is the longest river in the state, flowing for about 81km.
