Suraj Kund is located in
Faridabad District of
Haryana and is 20 km south of
New Delhi. 'Kund' means water tank. The name literally means the Tank of the Sun God.
Suraj Kund is believed to have been constructed by the Rajput king Suraj Pal in the 11th century on a site that had remains of a 9th century Sun Temple and a gallery.
Surajkund Crafts Mela is held between the 1st and the 15th of February every year in the village complex.
