One of the tributaries of the Brahmaputra River, the Dikrong originates from Dafla hills near the borders of Lower Subansiri District and East Kameng District of Arunachal Pradesh. It is named Kama River in the Kalika Purana. The river flows from the west to the south-east and the total catchment area is around 1528 sq km. Par, Nirochi and Pachin are its main tributaries.
On its way, the Dikrong River passes through Itanagar and finally falls into the Brahmaputra in Lakhimpur District of Assam. The Dikrong is ideal for boating, canoeing and angling.
