Patancheru, also known as Patan Cheruvu, is located about 32 km from
Hyderabad on Hyderabad-Sholapur highway in
Medak District. Earlier, it was the headquarters of Bidar and Gulshanabad revenue divisions. The place is dotted with temples built between 12th and 15th centuries. Patancheru also houses the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT).
