Hemavathi




Hemavathi is about 150 km south of Anantapur and was the capital of Pallavas during the 9th and 10th centuries. Located in Anantapur District, Hemavathi is a storehouse of Pallava and Chola architecture. The town is famous for the Doddeswara Swamy Temple of the Pallava rule. Hemavathi Fort and Sidhdheshwaraswami Temple are the other attractions.

Hemavathi is 22 km west of Madakasira and 150 km north of Bangalore. The nearby railhead is at Hindupur.
